This workshop will cover drawing, composition, value, and painting. We will start in the studio with drawing, and how to compose. We will view many examples of successful work and discuss why. Spending the necessary time on drawing and composing is essential. We will go out on-site in the afternoons to various places in the Landgrove Neighborhood, weather permitting. The students will create paintings following a demo. Anyone with experience will reinforce their knowledge on the importance of edges and temperature for focal point priority.
How do you know when a painting is done? We will discuss this too. In this 3 day workshop there will be handouts from many of the classes I have taught in the Bay Area. Art appreciation, art history, color, painting and drawing are a long, exciting journey in the beauty of nature that surrounds Landgrove.
Hilary has an MFA from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA and is currently at the Golden Gate Atelier, in Oakland. She has been teaching art to kids and adults for many years.
