Expressive Faces and Figures
Beginner to Advanced
August 3rd thru 6th
$600 per person, plus model fee
Janet Rogers has been a working professional artist for almost 30 years, with Signature Status in The American Watercolor Society, The Florida Watercolor Society, South Carolina Watercolor Society and more. She has garnered many awards over the years for her sensitive paintings of people, which are spontaneous, direct, and expressive. Janet shares easily with others her passion and joy for the fluid and unexpected nature of watercolor.
This dynamic, energetic workshop is designed for students of all levels to build skills and confidence while learning a loose and spontaneous approach to painting people. Through a series of fun exercises, you will learn to "see" in order to understand and interpret faces and figures (including children). Students will enjoy the process of flowing on colors to produce movement from photographs in the beginning, with progression to the model, capturing gesture and "life."
Some of the many areas we will cover: learning to design, discovering exciting flesh tones, changing colors, avoiding mud, and preserving the white of the paper. Many demos, individual attention, and Show and Tell will carry students and instructor through a direct, intuitive and impressionistic painting process!
"I love the qualities of watercolor – its fluid nature. To me, the interaction of artist with the medium is like a dance – full of motion, feeling and expression. I love to watch the painting develop and to discover new color and composition."
Janet is a passionate and dedicated national instructor and will help anyone new to drawing and painting people, so……NO FEAR!
