Premier Creative Workshops at the Landgrove Inn

Tim Saternow’s paintings explore the buildings and gritty industrial streets of New York City, the dignified, old houses of Provincetown, and the empty spaces of the High Desert around Joshua Tree, California.   “I paint a moment, with light and shadow, and I make the city quiet.”  Trained as a theatre lighting and set designer (and film art director), Emmy nominated Tim Saternow is extremely sensitive to the emotive power of light, especially the distinct bold light during fall and winter, creating deep shadows, while playing across the faces of the old houses, warehouses, and train trestles.  I find tremendous energy and timelessness in the rust, stains and patina of these old locations, and the stories it tells.
