This workshop will consist of sketching, color studies and a final large winter scene developed through photos and onsite observation.

Composition will be a priority as we concentrate on light and shadow, focal point and balance, while using multiple layers of thin washes to build depth and atmosphere. We'll also explore masking techniques to create textures and retain whites, practice painting trees and branches, and sample paint colors that break up and granulate when drying. Bring a sketchbook to practice drawing and keep a visual record of your stay!

Ginny Joyner is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and a signature member of The VWS. Teaching watercolor in a relaxed, enjoyable environment, her goal is that every student feels welcome, encouraged and comes away with renewed enthusiasm for watercolor.
